Program Description: The purpose of this program is to provide participants information about current and future diversity trends in the veterinary profession. Attendees will learn about the efforts being made nationwide and at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine to meet diversity needs for the veterinary profession. The assortment of expert speakers will share their perspectives on the future of veterinary medicine in our global society.


Dr. Allen L. Cannedy serves as the Director for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at NCSU-CVM and President of the North Carolina Association of Minority Veterinarians

Dr. Ted Cohn is the 2013-2014 AVMA President Elect. He is a graduate of Tuskegee University Veterinary College that has devoted over thirty five years of to the people and animal of Colorado and the veterinary profession.

Dr. Ronnie Elmore is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is the 2013 recipient of the distinguished Iverson Bell Award which recognizes an outstanding individual for promoting diversity in veterinary medical education.

Dr. David Marshall is the North Carolina State Veterinarian. Dr. Marshall is supportive of the veterinary medical loan repayment program through his recognition and requests for support through NIFA to fund NC veterinarians fulfilling deficiency areas of need in our state.

Dr. Roberta Morales is a Senior Staff veterinarian and risk analyst at USDA APHIS VS in Raleigh NC. She is been instrumental in our US trade negotiations surrounding BSE.

Dr. Shweta Trivide a teaching assistant professor at the North carolina Statue University College of Agriculture and Life Schiece. She also serves as the VetPAC Director for NC state University.
